It's finally here - the finish line of our Supernatural Ultimate Episode Contest. What started out with 64 episodes is down to 2. We made it in record time. Some decisions were simple while others ended in pulled hair. Thank you to everyone who participated these last few weeks and those who helped determine the 64 by voting in the episode # contest. It's been a good hiatus with you. Thanks for sharing your opinions, perspectives, and of course favorites. As always, if you have ideas for what you would like to see in a future hiatus, leave a comment. Until next time, I'll see you in the Character Cup. Happy voting!

Supernatural - Ultimate Episode (Round 5) - Poll
We are down to our Final Four and I will be happy no matter who wins at this point. All 4 are fine examples of Supernatural at its best. No matter how this tournament turns out, I hope you got to revisit some past favorites and learned how others viewed ones you might not have liked as much. It's been eye opening for me and lots of fun. Now on to the show. In round 5 we have: The End, In My Time of Dying, What Is and What Should Never Be, and All Hell Breaks Loose - part 2.
Happy voting everyone and don't forget to cast your predictions for the Character Cup. It will be starting a week later which gives us plenty of time to hash out who we think will win. It's harder than the Best Show contest - at least for me. Good luck to everyone participating.

Supernatural - Ultimate Episode (Round 4-2) - Poll
As we come to the end of the 4th round, it seems like people have found it pretty difficult. Yet for me, this time is a breeze. In one match is my favorite episode of all time. The second has the weakest of all the contenders left to me. It will be interesting to see what happens from here on out.
Unfortunately, this contest will overlap the Character Cup by a day or two. Normally I would stop the contest and then continue with it after the Character Cup ended. However, since we are so close to being done, I think I will just take that day. The day before the finals no new poll will be posted since we have to let the right side of the bracket catch up. Thanks to everyone who participated. It's been fun!

Supernatural - Ultimate Episode (Round 4-1) - Poll
After midnight tonight, there will only be 8 episodes left standing in our Ultimate Episode contest. Hard choices have been made and I don't expect them to get much easier in the final rounds. In good news for me, there are only 2 episodes left that I can't see as Ultimate Episode material. Making it into today's round are: The End, Lazarus Rising, Changing Channels, and In My Time of Dying. All worthy contenders and all of which I have voted for at some point. Happy voting!

Supernatural - Ultimate Episode (Round 3-2) - Poll
The last part of round 2 was the tightest match so far. Bad Day at Black Rock made it to round 3 over Point of No Return by a mere 3 votes. All Hell Breaks Loose, part 2 won over Mystery Spot by only 2 votes. Biggest shocker of the contest yet. I honestly thought Mystery Spot would win the whole thing, but it shows that every vote counts from here on out. Today we finish round 3 with the following episodes: The French Mistake, Bad Day at Black Rock, All Hell Breaks Loose - part 1, What is and What Should Never Be, All Hell Breaks Loose - part 2, A Very Supernatural Christmas, Abandon All Hope, and Born Under a Bad Sign.
Don't forget to enter your predictions for the Character Cup. Here's another one that's tough. Wilson, I feel for you in particular. I have some tough round 1 choices too, but not like yours. The Character Cup begins Monday.

Supernatural - Ultimate Episode (Round 3-1) - Poll
Things are heating up in the Supernatural Ultimate Episode contest with matches too close to call. I know the results are shocking me. Things I thought would be a runaway victory are losing or very tight. Things I thought would be close are runaway victories. I'm glad I didn't put money on this round. Speaking of rounds, the following episodes are advancing to round 3 which begins today: The End, Swan Song, No Rest for the Wicked, Lazarus Rising, Changing Channels, Yellow Fever, Jus in Bello, and In My Time of Dying. I think we are going to have plenty of groaning in this one. Happy (um...good luck) voting! Comments are the bliss of finally getting home after a 13+ hour day.

Supernatural - Ultimate Episode (Round 2-1) - Poll
With round 1 almost completed, we move on to round 2. Things are likely to get harder fast from this point on. By round 3 I suspect a hard match will be the norm and not the exception. Adding to episodes heading into round 2 are The French Mistake, Dark Side of the Moon, Point of No Return, Bad Day at Black Rock, Weekend at Bobby's, All Hell Breaks Loose part 1, Mommy Dearest (in the closest race yet), and What is and What Should Never Be. Good luck choosing in that next round.

Our second group of winners advancing to round 2 include Changing Channels, Frontierland, My Bloody Valentine, Yellow Fever, In the Beginning, Jus in Bello, In My Time of Dying, The Song Remains the Same. Supernatural - Ultimate Episode (Round 1-2) - Poll
Round 1-1 is off to a roaring start with over 400 people voting so far. That poll will close around midnight tonight CST so if you haven't voted yet go here. Round 1-2 will be open until tomorrow at the same time. I apologize in advance for posting these at all times in the day but I'm starting a new job and my schedule is wily-nily until I get settled in. Regardless there will be 2 polls going on at the same time and each poll will last for over 24 hours. Hopefully that gives everyone time to participate. Thanks to everyone who has supported this idea. Don't forget to nominate your favorite characters for the Best Character Cup. Nominations will end Saturday so get them in. Happy voting and remember comments are the gorgeous view from a NYC penthouse. (Just watched the amazing White Collar summer finale again so NYC is on my mind.)

Supernatural - Ultimate Episode (Round 1-1) - Poll
We have about 2 weeks before the Character Cup begins if the time table between nominations and the start of voting stays the same. So what's a Supernatural fan to do? My theory is why let a dead horse go to waste when you can continue to get something out of it. Therefore, I propose that we take the results of the Favorite Episodes Contest to determine the ultimate episode. I ranked episodes based on what percentage of votes it received. I felt this was more fair because it didn't matter how many people voted overall in a round. Then I used the format for the NCAA basketball championships (and the Best Show contest here) to determine which episodes go against each other. Basically, the NCAA has it where the highest ranked team goes against the lowest ranked team in the first round and then things get more interesting. I've added the ranking below. Unfortunately, I could not get a handy bracket like the ones Andy uses for the Best Show competition to work on my computer so everything will appear random for the first round. Trust me. It has a mathematical placement.
Before we begin this part of the contest, let's wrap up the final two Favorite Episode polls. For the penultimate episode, All Hell Breaks Loose, part 1 took first with 168 votes. That was 44% of the vote. Two Minutes to Midnight had 83 votes with 22% of the vote. For the finales we had great voter turnout with almost 600 votes. The winner was Swan Song with 216 votes, or 37%. All Hell Breaks Loose, part 2 came in second with 133 votes, which was 23%. Thanks to everyone who participated in that part of the contest. I hope people have fun with this new one. Oh, and because dead horse starts to smell bad quickly, we will be expediting this part. We will crown the winner in 11 days. Call it the speed round. Don't forget to pass the word and as always, comments are technology that never glitches or slows down. Happy voting!

Supernatural - Favorite Finale Poll
Today's the day. The last episode poll of this stage. We've voted for 21 favorites. Some polls went the way I expected and some were wildly different; yet, it was fun listening to everyone's opinions. Thanks to everyone who participated. You've made hiatus go by faster. Our winner for the favorite 20th poll was my personal favorite, What is and What Should Never Be with 208 votes, which was 47%. In second was The Man Who Would Be King with 129 votes (29%). Currently, All Hell Breaks Loose, part 1 is winning as the favorite penultimate episode. Not a big surprise there. Today should be difficult to rank because the finales are recognized as some of Supernatural's best episodes. From the suddenness of the first one's ending to the pronouncement of godhood in the last, SPN finales have shocked us, made us weep, had us cheering, and always, always left us Kripked. This is one of the hardest rounds for me. So which one will you choose to crown the ultimate finale?
Devil's Trap - This is the episode that spawned the terms hellatus and Kripked. It introduced Bobby and it's also one of my favorite episodes. Highlights - the exorcism of Meg, brothers as firemen, Impala crash, and one of my favorite scenes of all, Possessed John. Everything about this episode rocked. It was the ultimate look into family relationships for the Winchesters. It was also a hard act to follow for the rest of the seasons.
All Hell Breaks Loose, part 2 - This episode proved TPTB in Supernatural had guts. What other show would kill off a 2 season Big Bad? When I first saw this, I was sure YED would weasel his way out. When Dean shot him, my jaw dropped. It was the Impala crash of season 2. Highlights - Dean cries over dead Sam and makes the demon deal, Bobby's verbal smackdown, YED and his death, the devil's gate, and Sam confronts Dean about the deal. It was a fabulous way to both end a major story arc and begin a new one.
No Rest for the Wicked - OK, I knew Dean was going to hell, but seeing it actually played out was jaw dropping too. In a rush to fulfill 4 episodes after the writer's strike, this is the only episode they got right. Highlights - ubercreepy bloodstained Lilith child, Dean's hallucinations, holy water sprinklers, Dean and Sam say goodbye, Ruby died (YEAH!), Dean's death (gruesome), Sam stops Lilith, Sam's grief, and hell. This episode had a whole lot of action and a story line that did not quit.
Lucifer Rising - RUBY DIED...again! That's the highlight for me. Most of the episode revolved around the brother rift. The jaw dropper of course was that Lilith's death freed Satan instead of stopping the Apocalypse, which was an excellent twist. The best thing though is at the end the brothers are on the same side again, killing Ruby and clutching at each other for dear life.
Swan Song - OK, I knew Sam was going to hell, but the entire story line was very poignant. The biggest twist was that the finale was the big emotional episode while the penultimate one had the action. We got official acknowledgement that the Impala is the most important object in the universe - duh. Chuck provided the voice overs, Bobby and Cas died - Cas exploding again in a gorily cool splat, and the power of brother love saved the world while Sam sacrificed himself. This tied up 5 seasons of mytharc neatly and left fans unhappy for Sam but happy with the show.
The Man Who Knew Too Much - This is the tale of 3 Sam's, and that was the best part. Amnesia Sam versus RoboSam was awesome! Sam also gets his best line in 6 years with "You know me. You know why. I'm not leaving my brother alone out there." Who didn't cheer then? Unfortunately, once Sam had reunited all his pieces, we turned to a world where the Winchester clan was over its head as always. Cas had to save them from Raphael. Who will save them from Cas? (to be determined Sept. 23).
Vote your choice for favorite finale and don't forget to comment. Comments are that Friday that ends a long hellatus with the road so far. Also, we will have probably a week or two before the character cup begins, so let me know what Supernatural entertainment you would like to see here on SpoilerTV. I aim to make hellatus go by as quickly as possible with all your help, of course.

Supernatural - Favorite Penultimate Episode - Poll
We are almost done with part one of the episode contest. Only 2 more polls to go. Thanks to everyone who participated. Looking back at the 19th episode poll, the winner was Mommy Dearest. It received 113 votes for 28%. In second was Hammer of the Gods with 103 votes and 25%. Things look good for What is and What Should Never Be in the 20th episode poll right now too. Today we have the penultimate episodes. In all honesty, I usually don't care for the penultimates but love the finales. My ranking here is more difficult than past polls. Also remember that the last two episodes of season 3 will competing against the last two episodes of the other seasons. So instead of being the favorite 21st episode, it is technically the favorite penultimate episode.
Salvation - The best part about Salvation was the previouslies. Sad but true. Mostly because the previouslies were the first time we got the road so far to Carry On Wayward Son and that rocked. It also started a beloved tradition. This episode gave us Sam rescuing Rosie and Dean's confrontation of John, but it also gave us more of the Weepy Winchesters and of course John. The whole John story line was lame and far fetched. We really did not need to see John get captured. Just tell us he did and let us concentrate on the Winchester brothers.
All Hell Breaks Loose, Part 1 - Sam died. While it may be the last part of the episode, it is the most memorable. We did get to see Andy again, but then he died. We got to see Ava again, but she turned evil. We got to meet Jake, but he's better in Leverage anyway. The setting was awesome, so we saw it again in Frontierland. Mostly though, we finally got to see part of YED's plan at the expense of retconning Mary. This was an important episode.
Time is on My Side - Doc Benton did not interest me although he was certainly the most insane person ever on the show. The idea that Sam thought Dean would ever go for the Doc Benton Immortality Plan seemed way out of character. Best part for me was Bela. I'm not sure we needed the Bela back story but her story line needed closure and RUFUS (yeah) was introduced because of her. This is the third split episode (I'm seeing a theme here) where we really didn't need half of the story.
When the Levee Breaks - There is much to love in this episode if you love angst, but for me this episode has 3 strikes. 1. Very emoangsty. 2. Evil Mary reappears and I prefer her as a saint. 3. It's at the end of season 4 where everything escalates the brother rift. I hated this plot line most of all and everything about this episode was made to highlight it. Plus, we have suspicious Cas letting Sam out of the panic room and getting Anna angelnapped. Everything in this episode put the characters in the worst possible light and left us hopeless. Despair is not how I like feeling when an episode ends.
Two Minutes to Midnight - Again the episode is split and again I only like parts. Pestilence is the worst of the Horseman. Vile in a way that makes me want to vomit. I could have done without the beginning of the episode. I totally loved Bobby and Sam working together to take on the Croatoan zombies. I loved Crowley as always and Bobby walking after the deal was sweet. Still, hands down the best part was Death. Now when I get Chicago-style pizza, I think of Dean and him having a slice.
Let It Bleed - I like Lisa and Ben so I liked this episode more than most. I enjoyed Demon Lisa and my heart broke at the sight of Ben shooting the gun. Quite frankly, I was also excited that there was action in it after a dry spell. I didn't mind the memory wipe ending as much as most, but I do think Dean should have talked to Lisa about it. I didn't care either way about the Lovecraft part and I was done with Cas by this point. I loved that Dr. V. was from Purgatory and Balthy questioned Cas, but I am thoroughly sick of torture SPN-style, no matter who it is. (For the record, this time it is Bobby and the brothers split. I certainly hope they don't keep the 21st episode split pattern in season 7. It's a bit annoying.)

Supernatural - Favorite 20th Episode - Poll
Sorry for the delay guys, but my computer completely died and I can't get a new one until Friday. Therefore I will post polls as I have access to a computer. The winner of the favorite 18th poll was Point of No Return with 37% of the votes (131 votes) and Frontierland came in second with 24% (85 votes). Today we have my favorite episode of all going against an episode many people, not me, loved from season 6. It should be an interesting match.
Dead Man's Blood - The first of the vampire episodes and the return of John. I thought this was an okay episode, but nothing special. I loved Luther and the introduction of the Colt was legendary. I also liked the conversation between John and Sam since they rarely ever talked without yelling or disagreeing. It had some great lines too. "I usually draw the line at necrophilia." "Vampires - gets funnier every time I hear it." "Spent it on ammo."
What is and What Should Never Be - This is hands-down my favorite episode of all time. For a full (read way too long) discourse on why, you can read the review. Let's suffice to say that seeing the brothers happy after John's death, the hideous burden he left Dean, and Sam's going "darkside" turmoil, was long overdue. It was a relief to see them genuinely happy and laughing - even if it wasn't real. The piggybacking off the pilot was awesome and the djinn was one of the coolest monsters around. There is nothing I don't like in this episode. I didn't even mind the emotional monologue over John's grave.
The Rapture - I rarely rewatch this episode. It falls into the black hole of the end of season 4 where I would rather pretend Supernatural didn't go. However, I remember that I liked Claire and I'm sure Misha Collins was as impressive as ever. In general though, I hardly remember this episode.
The Devil You Know - This episode hit on most cylinders for me. It included a lot of back story with the Brady twist. Kind of hate that Sam was still targeted in those carefree college days, but it was a great reveal. Crowley was at his best "Lovers in league against Satan" - BWAH! This episode had great pacing and snark - my favorite combination. Plus the Bobby and Crowley deal. All in all, a great episode.
The Man Who Would Be King - Unlike everyone it seems, I thoroughly disliked this episode. I found it low on action and far too talky, violating the principle of show don't tell. While I understand the need to get Cas' point of view on what's happening, I don't think they needed all the monologues, especially when they stop the action to tell you what happened. I also detest the recapping within the episode. We don't have that short of attention spans.
