Supernatural - 8.11 - LARP and the Real Girl - Quotes
Back by one person's request, it's the return of the quotes of the episode. The format changes slightly depending on the episode and of course, these are just my opinion. Please add your own thoughts and opinions in the comments. I really enjoyed this episode so it's been fun going through the best quotes. There were so many of them. What were your favorites?
Words to Live By:
1. Dean: "You remember fun, don't you Sammy?"
I do Dean. I remember a time when Supernatural wasn't all doom and gloom and despair and loss. I liked that. This episode was a bright, shiny reminder of those times and I really hope that we can get back to them. Not all puppies and lollipops mind you. That rose-tinted world will never be in the Winchesters' future. Just a lack of suffocating angst where it becomes a pleasant shock to finally see the brothers smile.
Funny/Snarky quotes:
13. Charlie: "Call me….maybe?"
12. Sheriff: "God forbid he was contagious. I'm going to go dip myself in hand sanitizer."
11. Dean: "What? If there's no laptops in Moondoor, there's no Geneva Convention either."
10. Charlie: "Wow. Real magic. That is really cool if not mostly terrifying."
9. Dean: "This could be 50 Shades of Grayfox for all we know."
8. Sheriff: "He lived alone which is a real shocker considering this place is full of toys."
7. Dean: "You know if you uh move your archers back and your broad swordsmen to the west…" Charlie: "Oh. Flank the warriors." Dean: "Yep." Charlie: "Hey good call." Dean: "Thanks." Charlie: "What about the southern wall…" Sam: "Guys…" Dean: "Yeah. Right. Sorry."
6. Sam: "So…anything missing from the body?" Sheriff: "You mean aside from the arms and legs?"
5. Dean: "Did you really think that sentence was going to clear things up?"
4. Charlie: "This has been a really great kidnapping but I've got to get back to not dying so…good talk."
3. Sheriff: "We didn't find any hoof prints. She probably heard a TV or was having a bad dream or she was high as balls."
2. Sam: "So the toxicology report came back on Lance. Nothing, but the medical examiner said his body showed clear signs that he was killed by belladonna." Dean and Charlie: "The porn star?" Sam: "The poison." Dean and Charlie: "Oh."
1. Sheriff: "These kids today with their texting and murder."
Story-moving quotes:
10. Boltar: "Now, before we exchange, a few announcements. There is a PeeWee league soccer playoff game tomorrow on the upper field. We don't want to freak out the mundanes so we've got to move the battle of Kingdoms to the…" Dean: "Alright that's it. I'm going to do this the old-fashioned way." Sam: "Dean don't…" Dean: "What?" Sam: "Come on…" Boltar: "I told you there are…" Dean: "You, shut up. Alright I need real answers. This here is a real gun. See."
9. Charlie: "The Shadow Orcs. Last group on the list, impossible to find." Dean: "Wait. I know where we can find one. I met him on the way in." Charlie: "Perfect. Maybe he can tell us what the frak this thing is."
8. Sam: "It's uh the tree of pain. Uh if you are tagged with this mark you'll be a victim of fairy magic." Maria: "Wait. Fairy magic can be bad."
7. Charlie: "Okay. I'm going to need the full wiki on where you guys have been, but first, you're going to have to ditch the suit if you're going to walk and talk with the queen."
6. Boltar: "Would a loser track down a real book of spells and compel a fairy to do his bidding?" Sam: "Depends. How'd you get it?" Boltar: "E-Bay."
5. Sam: "Nice outfit." Dean: "You love it." Sam: "Right. Well while you were playing dress up, I found out that the mark…" Dean: "Belongs to the shadow orcs." Sam: "Yeah and they're using fairy magic." Dean: "The tree of pain. Awesome." Sam: "Whoever gets marked gets ganked." Dean: "Alright, how do we stop him?" Sam: "Find whoever cast the spell and take them out. No more whammy, no more marks. No more marks, no more dead bodies."
4. Sam: "Welcome to Moondoor, Michigan's largest LARPing game." Dean: "Well and I thought we needed to get out more."
3. Dean: "Are you okay man?" Sam: "We have the most powerful weapon we've ever had against demons and we can't find a way to use it." Dean: "Yeah well Kevin's on it and when he finds something he'll call. So we wait."
2. Sam: "Why are you being so helpful all of a sudden?" Prisoner: "Look I harbor an epic crush on the queen. Maybe you could put in a good word for me when you find her." Dean: "I don't think you're her type." Prisoner: "What? You mean she's not into orcs?"
1. Sam: "These aren't fake badges." Jerry: "Uh…yeah they are and they're very good but uh…um, well the id numbers shifted to 10 digits with uh two letters mixed in at the end of the year and uh, the seal's from last month. Really good work. It's just it's a tournament weekend, okay guys, so you've got to follow the rules. 'Cause no rules, chaos. Resume."
Emotional quotes:
8. Dean: "Well the FBI is all work, no play."
7. Charlie: "If the last 24 hours have taught me anything, it's that escaping isn't what it used to be. No more replacement characters for me. I've got to face reality from now on. Sadly reality actually includes monsters but…what are you going to do. If I can ever give help to you guys, let me know."
6. Charlie: "Why do I have such bad luck. What am I? Some kind of monster magnet. Is there such thing as a monster magnet? You know what, don't answer that. I don't care. What I care about is not getting my other arm broken or dying, so I'm dropping my sword and walking off the stage b**. Have fun storming the castle."
5. Dean: "So what's uh…what's next cuz no fun right. Look before you say anything, I…I….I…I get it. No amount of fun is going to help you get over what you gave up. I mean you just uh….you need time. Right?" Sam: "Yeah. Thanks. And you're right, having fun won't help me. It will help both of us. Shall we?"
4. Charlie: "No I buried myself. Then Dick Roman went down, his company belly up and I figure hey, it's all good. And I was fine. I got my life back. Now you're here and if you guys are here, monsters are here."
3. Dean: "Look we have both had a rough go over these past couple of weeks and uh I know what you gave up wasn't easy. Maybe we ought to take the night off. I mean go see a flick, hit a bar or two. Have some fun."
2. Charlie: "Okay hey, I am right here and I want to leave." Dean: "Thank you." Charlie: "But the queen...she has to stay. I mean Sam is right. People are dying and that can't happen on my watch. And you know what? I am tired of running. I like my life here. I'm going to stay and fight for it."
1. Dean: "Now wait a second. If it wasn't for you, we would have never been able to take down Dick Roman. Out there…in the real world….you are a hero."
Eye-Rollingly Bad Dialogue:
5. Charlie: "I'm just an IT girl standing in front of a monster asking it not to kill her."
4. Charlie: "Great costume bt dubs."
3. Dean: "Noticing a lot of these maidens checking you out." Charlie: "What? I can't shut this down."
2. Charlie: "Dudes, if the tent is rockin' don't come a knockin'."
1. Garth: "Garthed."
Worst Quotes of the Episode:
3. Dean: "Sam, I think we can take care of a bunch of accountants with foam swords." Sam: "We need all the help we can get Dean. People are dying." Dean: "My point, which is usually yours, is that she should get somewhere safe and get back to a normal life."
-because it wouldn't be season 8 without both the brothers arguing over something AND Sam being out-of-character. At least this time they acknowledge it in the actual dialogue.
2. Sam: "Okay we've got to lose the GPS on our phones because Garth has been tracking us and other hunters apparently to assign cases." Dean: "That's smart. It's a total Bobby move."
-Yes show, I remember the pain of Bobby's death. You don't have to rub salt in the wound by trying to make Garth the Annoying into a Bobby-type character. No one replaces Bobby.
1. Charlie: "So he found some normalcy with this chick and now it's gone again thanks to you."
-Talk about blame shifting. This line was so bad and so brother war provoking that it almost colored the whole episode.

Supernatural - Song-to-Scene - Finale - Poll
Supernatural Song-to-Scene Final Round
16 days, 64 nominees, and it's down to the last two - Renegade and O Death. The heavy favorites going in are finally against each other. Renegade made it into the finals by defeating Can't Find My Way Home, Man in the Wilderness, Silent Lucidity, Knockin' on Heaven's Door, and Back in Black (65%). O Death beat Fell on Black Days, Space Oddity, Simple Man, A Well-Respected Man, and Wanted Dead or Alive (61%). While only one can be crowned the best song-to-scene, it is my opinion that both are great examples of how music can enhance a scene for TV in general. There are no better songs-to-scene in TV for me. Whichever one prevails today represents Supernatural well.
Thank you to everyone who voted, explained your favorites, and campaigned for your choices. I've done a lot of hiatus polls but this has been my favorite. I've loved our discussions and now look at some scenes in a different way. That's always a welcome surprise when you've seen each scene 100+ times. I've enjoyed spending the hiatus with you all. Thanks for being the best part of the hiatus. Until the summer hellatus, I wish you a happy second half of season 8 and look forward to hashing out your favorite scenes each week. Happy voting!

Supernatural - Song-to-Scene - Round 5 - Poll
I have to admit that I am startled by the turn of events here. I thought I knew which 4 would be in the final four, but I was only half right. Definitely the most wrong I've been in all of the winter hiatus contests. I am equally shocked that the polls weren't even close in round 4, since I thought at least 2 of them would be virtually tied. Therefore all bets are off. Plus it's the easiest voting of the whole contest for me - no questions, no hesitations. Making it into the final four are Renegade (65%), Back in Black (63%), Wanted Dead or Alive (70%), and O Death (80%).
This is the second to last round of the season 8 winter hiatus. You know what that means....new episode on Wednesday. Usually that also means an end to Supernatural polls until the next hiatus (except for the ones asking how you liked each episode), but SpoilerTV is starting a new weekly program...scene of the episode polls. Therefore a day or two after each new episode airs, I will compile a list of noteworthy scenes for you to vote on. Of course, there will always be an other button too and you can put your favorite scene in the comments. Be on the lookout for these polls for your other favorite TV shows as well. I'm doing White Collar, Arrow, and Grimm also so if you watch those shows, please participate there too.
Also added to the fun will be a new weekly SpoilerTV mix tape, including songs heard on TV that week. Feel free to add your suggestions in the comments of that weekly article. Finally, Spoiler is looking for more ideas in the User Submitted Daily Polls. If you have an idea, click on any poll that starts with USD and you will see a blue button to submit your poll. They don't have to revolve around Supernatural, but can be as broad as you'd like. SpoilerTV is always striving to make things more interesting for TV fans and I hope you enjoy these new features. Feedback is always welcome on all new features and suggestions are encouraged.
Happy voting!

Supernatural - Song-to-Scene - Round 4 - Poll
Round 4 starts now. With only 8 left out of 64 song-to-scene choices, we are slowing working our way to the best song-to-scene. Every round will take one day from now on until the winner is crowned at 7:59 pm on Wednesday. Given that the new Supernatural episode will air at 8:00 pm the same day, that's perfect timing for a hiatus contest. Episodes that have reached round 4 include: Renegade, Knockin' on Heaven's Door, Back in Black, Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas, Wanted Dead or Alive (70%), Rock of Ages (53%), O Death (75%), and A Well-Respected Man (55%). Thanks to everyone who has participated so far. Happy voting!

Supernatural - Time Travel part 1 - Podcast
Today we have the first part of the time travel podcast. This is the second podcast Lilith and I ever did so it's a little rough. The episodes discussed are In the Beginning and The Song Remains the Same. While I do not like time travel in shows because it opens up a lot of potential problems, Lilith recognizes that they are a classic part of the sci-fi genre as a whole.
Note from Lilith: This is one of the first ever podcasts we recorded, so we're a little green, but I swear it's still interesting, I promise.

It's a completely positive podcast. Yes, you heard right. Of course we are discussing What is and What Should Never Be and It's a Terrible Life as the first part of the alternative universes podcast. The End and My Heart Will Go On will be in the second half. I'll post the first part of the time travel episodes later this week too.

Supernatural - Song-to-Scene - 3B - Poll
Round three started with a bang. Both Renegade (85%) and Back in Black (83%) decimated their opponents. Things were a lot closer for Knockin' on Heaven's Door (56%) and Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas (55%), which happened to be the two polls I had trouble choosing. I would expect today to contain 2-3 blowouts again as we wend our way to the elite 8. At least this is marginally easier than yesterday for me with the exception of the first poll. How is voting going for you?

Supernatural - Song-to-Scene - 3A - Poll
We're on to round three where impossible will be a daily word. As in, this poll is impossible. I don't know which to choose. Yesterday's polls were mostly decisive with O Death scoring 89% of its vote, making it the number one choice of round 2. It's a definite favorite to reach the semifinals and possibly win it all. Others going to round 3 include Simple Man (70%), The Gambler (55%), and A Well-Respected Man (60%). The sweet 16 have shaped up nicely, which only makes it harder from here on. Happy voting!

Supernatural - Song-to-Scene - 2D - Polls
Yesterday was a decisive win for each song-to-scene moving to round 3. There were no last minute wins here given the closest race was 60-40. Winners included Wanted Dead or Alive (81%), What a Wonderful World (72%), Highway to Hell (60%), and Rock of Ages (66%). That's going to make for some rough polls in the next go-around. Today we have some equally tough choices as we conclude round 2. For the first time, I have no clue what is going to win in 3 of the 4 polls. Of all the Supernatural contests we've done on SpoilerTV, this one is by far the most difficult for me. I can't imagine how hard the semifinals will be.

Supernatural - Song-to-Scene - 2C - Poll
It's time for the next set of polls in round 3 so take a break from the People's Choice Awards (yea, Supernatural wins favorite sci-fi/fantasy series) and vote. Yesterday's winners included Back in Black (85%), Born to be Wild (57%), Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas (54%), and Don't Fear the Reaper (75%). I am confident that if People's Choice had a category for Favorite Inanimate Object, the Impala would win hands down. After all, it will be Impala vs. Impala again in the next round.
Today starts the first of the impossible choices for me and it looks like it is only the beginning. Hope things are easier for you and as always, happy voting!

Supernatural - Song-to-Scene - 2B - Polls
For the most part, yesterday's polls went as expected. Renegade (82%), Bad Moon Rising (76%), and Knockin' on Heaven's Door (82%) all had big wins. The big exception...All Out of Love vs. Silent Lucidity. In the last few hours they were running neck and neck, hitting a tie with only a few minutes to go. In the end, Silent Lucidity eked ahead by two votes (51%) making it the closest poll of the contest so far. Looking at today's choices, we might have much of the same with these. It's Impala vs. Impala and a fan favorite song vs a fan favorite scene. While I have no trouble at all picking my choices, two polls could go either way today depending on how people interpret the contest. Voting should be intriguing. So without further ado, happy voting!

Supernatural - Song-to-Scene - 2A - Polls
We're on to round 2 and some fantastic songs-to-scene are still in the running, including Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas which I left out yesterday. Thanks Maria Vegas for catching that. Joining the round are Eye of the Tiger (66%), The Gambler (68%), Bad Company (66%), and A Well-Respected Man with the day's high of 77%. I have a feeling this will be the last easy set for me, since there are only two polls where there isn't a clear winner for me in all of round 2.
Below is a link to the contest basics. If you are just joining the contest, please read it. This is not a favorites contest like most of our polls. This one is based more on logic than emotion and sometimes you may be voting for songs and/or scenes you don't particularly care for but which make a great song-to-scene match anyway. We are looking at the lyrics and tone of the song matching what is going on in a specific scene. To help, there are links below to every scene in today's polls. Happy voting!

Supernatural - Song-to-Scene - 1H - Poll
This is the last part of round 1 so the final nominees are in the polls today. Winners of these polls will join Renegade, Man in the Wilderness, All Out of Love, Silent Lucidity, Bad Moon Rising, Don't Look Back, Spirit in the Sky, Knockin' on Heaven's Door, Back in Black, Crossroad Blues, Born to be Wild, Smoke on the Water, Heat of the Moment, These Boots were Made for Walking, Don't Fear the Reaper, Wanted Dead or Alive, the Knight Rider theme, Walking on Sunshine, What a Wonderful World, O Death (96%), Space Oddity (58%), You Shook Me All Night Long (53%), and Simple Man (70%) in round 2. While round 2 ought to be difficult, I project that round 3 will be almost impossible given how many true song-to-scene choices there are.
Today's polls include 6 that I don't know how they got into the contest at all with better choices eliminated in the nomination stage so for me this is the weakest part of the bracket. However, it does include some fan favorite moments and I expect those to win big time. Maybe even make it to the final 8. Below are links to the scene videos and contest basics, which will contain a contest update as soon as these polls close. It also includes the rankings of all nominees.
I'm also including a form for you to give your suggestions for future polls. I keep a running list to do during hiatus. Usually we just run polls during the winter and summer hiatuses. However I had requests for us to do something if we have the typical spring in-season hiatus where reruns run back to back for several weeks in March and April. I'm not sure if we are going to get another big break, but if we do we'll run something Supernatural during that time. Currently, I'm thinking it will be the episode ranking articles or continuing with the writer polls. The big summer hellatus contest will be Best Quote. With 172 episodes, that is going to be one big comprehensive endeavor so it will take up most of the hellatus. However I am flexible so if people have other ideas that we have not already done on SpoilerTV, let me know in the form below. Fair warning though, anything that seems likely to instigate brother wars is automatically tossed so no Hottest Brother or Favorite Character stuff please.
Happy voting!

Supernatural - Song-to-Scene - 1G - Polls
It was a set of big winners today with Rock of Ages getting 81% and Beautiful Loser, Highway to Hell, and Cold as Ice each at 70%. Should be interesting when they go against each other next round. Today we have a juggernaut of a song-to-scene, one that could win it all. Can't wait to see how it compares to Renegade, Back in Black, and Wanted Dead or Alive, choices that received over 90% of their votes. In other news, this is the last day to nominate your ideal Supernatural playlist of songs that have not been heard on SPN before. I think the song-to-scene contest will end on the day of the midseason premiere but if I miscalculated, I will post the suggestions when this contest ends. If not I will do something with them during the in-season spring hiatus. Anyway, happy voting!

Supernatural - Song-to-Scene - 1F - Poll
It was a decisive victory for Wanted Dead or Alive yesterday, receiving 96% of the votes. Also moving on to round 2 are the Knight Rider Theme (55%), Walking on Sunshine (72%) and What a Wonderful World (82%). I was pleasantly surprised by the results of these polls and I think that bodes well for coming up with a true song-to-scene winner instead of a favorite scene winner. If you are confused about the difference between these, please read the Contest Basics in the link below. It will also show which songs-to-scene are in this contest and after round 1 is finished, it will have the results so far.
Also below are links to the videos for today's nominees. Sadly I could not find one of House of the Rising Sun but it is throughout the season 2 episode Roadkill if you want to watch it. If anyone knows of a link, please let me know so I can add it to the list. Other than that, nominations will be open until Saturday night for the songs you wish would be on SPN but have not been aired yet. Happy voting!

Supernatural - Song-to-Scene - 1E - Poll
Before people ask why in the world this is the picture for today's poll, let me explain. I have been taking the losing song-to-scene with the most votes and using a screencap of it because I was getting bored with the title card. My other options today were too much...um Ready for Love, or the pre-Impala scene where they both look like fish because they are about to kiss. I chose this one instead.
There were no huge winners in yesterday's polls which may not bode well for any of their chances in the long run or it may just be a tribute to their competition. Advancing to round two are Heat of the Moment (79%), Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas (75%), These Boots were Made for Walking (55%), and Don't Fear the Reaper (73%). This by the way concludes the first half of round one with 4 more days to go.
Below are links for Contest basics like a ranking list of episodes in the contest, a bracket for the competition, and videos for the scenes in today's polls. Please remember that a great song or a great scene do not a great song-to-scene make. This contest requires us to go beyond our favorites to really analyze how the two go together. If you are confused about the difference, please ask in the comments or read the contest rules in the Contest Basics link. Thanks so much and as always, happy voting!

Supernatural - Song-to-Scene - 1D - Poll
Yesterday was a great day to be the Impala. She won every one of her polls, meaning it will be Impala vs Impala next round. Back in Back, her unofficial theme song, took the most votes with 92%. Others going to round 2 are Crossroad Blues (53% and the only non-Impala winner), Born to be Wild (68%), and Smoke on the Water (60%). Curses all around for the poll rankings today. I believe there are 4 strong song-to-scene choices in these polls and 4 poor ones. Unfortunately all 4 good ones are against each other. Sometimes I think Fate is messing with me. Oh well. At least next round's choices will be super easy.
Below are links for which scenes are in the contest (Contest Basics), a bracket to see which ones are coming up next, and videos for the scenes in today's polls. I've also included the nomination form for songs you'd like to hear on Supernatural. Nominations will be open for another 3 days so voice your choice. As always, happy voting.

Basics: PLEASE READ IF HAVEN'T ALREADY.
The song-to-scene contest is not a popularity contest per se. It is about which song best fits which scene in tone and lyrics. Unlike a favorite song or favorite scene contest, you could very well end up voting for a song and/or scene you don't like simply because it matches the best. Ideally we are looking for a scene in which no other song could come even close to being as perfect. We are looking for a song that could not be played in many different scenes in the series. That one combination where the song and scene feel like they were completely in sync. So think on your vast music knowledge and if you can think of several songs that would work in the scene, toss that choice out. If you can think of several places where the song would work just as well or better in the series, toss that choice out too. This contest only works if we let our episode and music prejudices go for 3 weeks.
Also previouslies, outtakes, gag reels, promos, etc. are NOT scenes and therefore do NOT count. That cuts out Carry On Wayward Son completely, which has only been in the previouslies, the outtake of Jensen dancing to Eye of the Tiger (only the 30 seconds that were actually in the episode count), and the first part of Foreplay/Long Time, which started as a previously and segued into about 45 seconds of the actual episode.

Supernatural - Song-to-Scene - 1C - Poll
While the contest was closer yesterday, there were no real surprises. Bad Moon Rising and Knockin' on Heaven's Door each decimated their competition with 88% and 87% respectively. Don't Look Back and Spirit in the Sky eked into round 2 with 54% each. Somehow I think round 2 is as far as they will go. Today's choices are a little lackluster to me as far as songs matching the scene but there should be at least a couple surefire favorites. Let's just say the Impala is getting some love in the nominations today.
I am keeping the nominations for songs that should be on Supernatural but have not yet been open all week, so if you haven't had a chance to nominate please do so. The choices so far have been excellent. As always, happy voting!
