Quote of the Week - Week of Nov. 1

A weekly feature highlighting the best quotes on TV as picked by the SpoilerTV team. We'd love to hear your picks too so please sound off in the comments below.

NOTE:  Welcome to the 7th anniversary of Quote of the Week.  It’s been 7 years since we started this column and it’s time for an upgrade.  Introducing “What Else We’re Watching,”  a weekly segment of our favorite quotes from shows that did not originally air this week.  It will be a hodgepodge of fairly recent shows we’re catch-up binging to favorite classics we’re rewatching.  We hope you’ll add some of your favorites in the comments below, too, as we celebrate the best of TV, both recent and not.

Mom

1.  Jill (to Bonnie):  “Now that Christy’s gone, would you like me to roll my eyes a little bit more while you share?”  (Pop Culture Guy)

2.  Jill:  “My gosh, did none of you ever go to a slumber party when you were kids?”  Bonnie:  “Foster care!”  Wendy:  “No friends.”  Marjorie (smacking her arm):  “I was strung out on horse.”  (Pop Culture Guy)

Supernatural -

1.  Castiel:  “Even since we met, ever since I pulled you out of hell, knowing you has changed me. Because you cared, I cared. I cared about you; I cared about Sam. I cared about Jack, but I cared about the whole world because of you. You changed me, Dean.”  Dean:  “Why does this sound like goodbye?”  Castiel:  ”Because it is. I love you.”  (Kath)

2.  Castiel:  “I wondered what it could be, what my true happiness could even look like. I never found an answer because the one thing I want is something I know I can’t have. But I think I know now that happiness isn’t in the having, it’s in just being.”  (Kath)

3.  Castiel (to Dean):  “You are the most caring man on earth. You are the most selfless, loving human being that I will ever know.”  (Kath)

Young Sheldon

1.  Missy:  “You’re scared everything’s gonna be different and it’ll be hard and you’re gonna miss the way that it was.”  Sheldon:  “How do you know that?”  Missy:  “Because that’s how I feel.”  Sheldon:  “You’re scared?”  Missy:  “Yeah.”  Sheldon:  “So what do we do?”  Missy:  “I guess be scared and do it anyway.” ~I love how they are showing more sides of Missy in this show. She's really high in emotional intelligence and I love how she uses this to help a scared Sheldon. (Dahne)

2.  Sheldon (voice over):  “Dale invited Jesus to the party and while he wasn’t on my guest list, it was okay because it made my mom happy.  In fact, it was the best graduation party I had ever been to, until the one we had for my son, Leonard Cooper.  I wanted his name to be Leonard Nimoy Cooper, but Amy wouldn’t let me.”  Amy:  “Be happy I let you name him Leonard.”  Sheldon:  “Okay, okay.”  Amy:  “Love you.”  Sheldon:  “Love you too.”  ~~I love that we got some additional insight into adult Sheldon’s life with Amy and how awesome is it that Sheldon honored Leonard in that way. (Dahne)

3.  Sheldon:  “If it weren’t for this person, I wouldn’t be here right now.  They’ve taught me a lot and it’s by their example that I found the courage to move forward into this new and exciting chapter of my life.  Missy, this is for you.  Change can be scary but I know we’re going to be fine, because like you said, ‘It’s okay to be scared.  We just have to do it anyway.’  So if any of my fellow graduates are nervous about the future, know that you’re not alone.  I suggest you all try to be as brave as my twin sister.  That’s my plan.  Missy, I wish I could give you advice about middle school, but I was so smart, I skipped it.  If you make it to high school, we’ll talk.” ~I thought both scenes between Missy and Sheldon were dynamite in this episode. The first showed how much Missy understood Sheldon and it was good to see him respect her wisdom and support in this speech. (Dahne)

What Else We’re Watching

Cold Case - 1.01 - Pilot:

1.  Todd:  “Tell me something, Lilly, what is the point of all of this after so many years?”  Lilly:  “People shouldn’t be forgotten, even if they are my kind of people.  Maybe they don’t have a lot of money, they don’t have lawyers, but they matter.  They should get justice too.”  Todd:  “I see.  You’re a crusader.”  Lilly:  “I guess I am.” (Dahne)

2.  Lilly:  “Is this how you handle women you can’t control?  Is this supposed to scare me?”  Todd:  “It’s supposed to make you think.”  Lilly:  “I’m not like the girls you’re used to, Todd.  You can’t try to charm me.  Then when that doesn’t work, talk down to me.  Then when that doesn’t work, get aggressive.  I’m not Jill or Melanie.  I’m the police and we’re at the police headquarters, you moron.”  (Dahne)
