2015 Character Cup - Finals

Well it's finally here. After 23 days of nominating, predicting, commenting, and polling, it's down to the final two characters. Which will become the 2015 Champion? Root has demolished every competitor by at least 63% of the vote and has the most votes of any character in the Cup. Mickey however has risen from 55th place to beat off both the 10th and 2nd ranked characters in the largest upsets of Cup history. It's anyone's guess today who will take first and I'm expecting a high voter turnout. In the vehicle contest, our current TV shows pit Supernatural's Metallicar against Doctor Who's TARDIS. Both are highly popular and cult symbols of their shows. In the ended show TV Vehicle contest, two legendary starships compete as Serenity (Firefly) and the Enterprise (Star Trek) try to add to their show's glory in a fight I expect to be as highly contested as the Cup itself. There should be 3 exciting matches today, so fandoms….take your mark, get set, go! Happy voting!

Notes:

1. There will be a wrap-up article after the contest ends that will contain the final rankings and stats. I won't have time to update today.
2. I decided to add a run-off poll for 3rd and 4th place although there wasn't much opinion about it either way.
3. This is the part in the contest where people tend to forget the rules, so please check the links below for a refresher.

Prediction Cup Update - Congratulations to Perrin, who continues to lead the prediction contest with 43 correct predictions out of 63. Awesome! That's very impressive. Currently in second place is Idahoow and third is Senko. Nice job guys! Like the race for the Cup winner, this one will come down to the final winner and determine whether Perrin or Senko takes the crown as Prediction Cup winner. Thanks to everyone who participated in this topsy turvy race. I hope you had as much fun as I did.

Today's TV Talk Topics:

Wrap-Up: Except it isn't about TV this time. We added 3 new things to the Character Cup this year and I want to get your feedback on them: Challonge for the Prediction Contest, the TV Vehicle Contest, and the head-to-head style polling. Plus I would like your feedback on the topics chosen for the TV Talk Topics. Sorry in advance for the length.

A. Challonge - Did you participate in the prediction contest? If not, was there a reason besides not knowing about it before it closed? If yes, did you like it? How easy or difficult was it for you to use Challonge to create your predictions? What did you like and dislike (besides how your predictions did, of course) about the prediction contest this year? Would you recommend using this site to run the prediction contest next year? What suggestions do you have for the prediction contest overall?

B. Mini-contest - Did you participate in the TV Vehicle Contest? What do you like and dislike about having a mini-contest within the bigger one? Would you like to see this continue next year? If so, what are some mini-contest ideas? Would you prefer it to be in contest form like this one or just do a single poll? I'm also toying with the idea that any show still in the Character Cup in round 4 would NOT be eligible for the mini-contest. Since the purpose of the mini-contest is to keep fans involved whose shows are already out of the Character Cup, this seems more fair to me. In all honesty if we don't, then the same show will likely win both the Character Cup and the mini-contest because more of that fandom will be coming to the contest to vote. However, I want your opinion on the matter before making any final decisions. Would you be fine with excluding any shows represented in round 4 from the mini-contest or do you think it should be open to all shows?

C. Head-to-Head polling - (A special thanks to everyone who submitted pictures for the polls this year. You made my job so much easier.) If you look at the character polls today and then look at the vehicle polls, they represent the 2 types of polls we have available. The character part is considered a head-to-head poll. How do you like them compared to the standard polls? Is this something you think we should continue? Are there any drawbacks to doing head-to-head polls? For instance, was it harder to vote or see on a mobile device? Did it take longer to load? I always use my computer so I'm not sure how it looks on a smaller screen.

D. TV Talk Topics - (First off, thank you to everyone who gave suggestions for the TV Talk Topic. Since the actual Character Cup itself was shorter than last year, we still have plenty of topics for next year. I apologize if we did not get to your subject. Hopefully we can get to them next time or you can bring it up in the comments yourself today.) Did you participate in the TV Talk Topics? Why or why not? What suggestions would you make to the topics to increase the conversation? Which was your favorite topic to discuss this year? Did you participate in the TV Talk Topics last year? If so, would you be interested in revisiting some of the discussion topics from before in next year's contest or would you prefer to continue with new topics for as long as possible?
