Supernatural - Supernatural Fan Week - Fan Vid version

So we are now into day 2 of Supernatural Fan Week. Your challenge: To find all those great Supernatural videos you love. Funny, emo, plot-driven, character-focused, episode-focused, anything that made you glad to be a Supernatural fan. Share those videos with other fans and of course drop the vidder a line to say how much you appreciate them.

Rules:

1. Credit the vidder in the comments section.
2. Put a link to the video if you have it.
3. Remember that this is a family friendly site. Keep the R-rated stuff to a minimum. Nothing NC-17. And to protect my sanity, if you have to include Wincest (and I hope you don't) please for the love of all things good and beautiful, mark it clearly as Wincest so I don't mistakenly see it and have to get the brain bleach.

Here's a few to start us out. Most are by Lsketch42, who I think does an awesome job. I have other favorites I'm going to share but I guess I haven't transfered them from my old computer yet. Happy SPN Fan Week! #SPNFanWeek

Plot: If you ever have to explain Supernatural's plot in 10 minutes or less to someone, plop them down in front of this video. It says it all.  (Season 1-5)  By TikiTyler9

Brother Tension: The Winchesters have a strong family bond but they have had their share of tension too. This one highlights that tension but gives hope at the end. By Lsketch42

Emotional: Warning - even the song is designed to make you weepy (or in my case, depressed). What I like about this one is that it goes beyond boys crying a lot and shows where the penchant to sacrifice themselves has led. Also by Lsketch42.

Funny: This one always makes me laugh even if it has Missouri in it. It comes straight from season 1 so there were not a lot of clips available. I find it even more clever because of that. By Ringwench

For those of you still needing to drown your Friday sorrows: Pace yourselves my friends! By Lsketch42

Don't forget other great SPN Fan Week events like:

1. Write the cast and crew of Supernatural to tell them how much you appreciate their hard work. Thanks Bekah for the idea and info.

White Collar - Complete Interview with Willie Garson

Preface - Over the last several days, I had the privilege of conference interviewing with Willie Garson and Andrew McCarthy to talk about the Forging Bonds episode of White Collar. (It was fantastic, so check it out if you missed it.) The Willie Garson interview is from my notes so there is more paraphrasing, but the Andrew McCarthy one is from the interview transcripts. The Andrew McCarthy interview will be posted shortly. Thanks to everyone who suggested questions for both.

Willie Garson is very personable on the phone - funny, self-deprecating, and friendly. He enjoys playing Mozzie because the character is similar to himself in his world views and wry sense of humor. "Mozzie is close to me but he's certainly not me." It allows him to bring more depth to the character, to be more collaborative, since a lot comes from his heart. If fact, he says that about every 3-4th line comes out of his head. He thinks fans find Mozzie endearing because he's well-written with a lot of heart. He likes Mozzie's vulnerability and thinks the audience is drawn to the sweetness of that. However, getting the part took some doing. He was in Bogota, Columbia on a movie when he heard about it and then worked hard for 2 months to get the role.

Garson is grateful for the fan reaction when Mozzie got shot but wasn't worried they were writing his character off. There aren't that many characters on White Collar. He appreciates how fans started a Twitter trend when Point Blank aired, but with the internet, there were pictures of him on set after the shooting so it was hardly a secret that Mozzie would live. What wasn't fun was the fake blood for the opening scene of Forging Bonds. Mozzie's first shirtless scene had him covered in very cold goo for hours. It was good to be lying down though. Garson thought the director of shooting did a great job.

About Mozzie and Neal's relationship, Garson says fans are catching up on an 8 year friendship. Their relationship is solid which allows the show to sprinkle in tidbits for fans to delight over. Both characters need each other and are life-long crime partners, as seen in Forging Bonds. Garson was surprised that Mozzie and Neal only knew each other 8 years - he thought it was longer - but since Neal is young, it makes sense. He also likes how they came together because both needed "to step up their game" as cons.

In Forging Bonds, Mozzie wears a toupee, which Garson has worn as an actor before but never in his personal life. His favorite was the bouffant, like a Christopher Guest character, but he thought the Russian Cossack hat one was "absolutely ridiculous." The most memorable toupee was the heavy metal version from Something About Mary. On White Collar, they wanted the toupees look purposely bad, which was hard on the man who supplied them. Garson has been bald for so long any hair looks foreign to him. What he really didn't understand was the goatee. Goatees are itchy, annoying, and trap food in his opinion.

Mozzie's quirks are part of why the character is so fascinating. Garson thinks the conspiracy theories are fun; the moon landing being a fabrication is his favorite. He also loves the quote, "A New Yorker that doesn’t take the subway is a New Yorker you can't trust." He totally agrees with that. The jack-of-all-trades side of Mozzie is a little harder because he is a props-heavy character. Garson heads to the props department after getting a script to get a crash course in how things work. However, the toughest part is to learn "to release the knowledge of doing something." TV moves so fast that you can't keep up with all the new skills you learn for a part. Essentially, he has to "fake it and move on."

So what is up next for Mozzie? Garson laughs because fans assume that actors have something to do with the writing but they don't. In fact, they generally don’t know much more than the fans. He foresees Peter finding more ways to use Mozzie's special skill set and thinks that Mozzie will probably need Peter's help again like in By the Book. He finds Mozzie's burgeoning insight that the FBI can be of value appealing but maintains that Mozzie is still more interested in turning the FBI evil than the other way around. What he would like to see is Mozzie dating lots of hot, hot girls but he knows that will never happen. He would love to work with Diane Farr again or possibly have Judy Greer or Jennifer Grey as a love interest. (I second any of those.) Although the show hasn't revealed a secret talent for Mozzie, like Peter's horseback riding or Neal's singing, Garson assures us that Mozzie is an excellent dancer.

In Garson's long career, he has had many great roles. Mozzie is definitely up there, but every character has its benefits. Playing Henry in NYPD Blue was a special time in his life and he loved working time with friend Sarah Jessica Parker as Stanford on Sex and the City. Playing real people is "a gift to actors," so Lee Harvey Oswald was another favorite. Also guest starring on The X-Files and Stargate was very satisfying because sci fi fans are some of the most passionate fans of all. He is friends with David Duchovny, so he enjoyed being the only guest who was on The X-Files in 2 different episodes as 2 different people. He describes Stargate as "pure fun, a great time." Garson wishes he guest starred on Friday Night Lights but "that ship has sailed." He is still hoping for a role on Modern Family though and would love to see a White Collar/Burn Notice crossover. (As would I!) On other USA Network shows, his friend's pilot just got picked up and he would love to be a part of that or to work with Mary McCormick on In Plain Sight. He's a big fan of TV acting these days because of the stories and characters he can play. His dream role though is to remake the old English musical, The Entertainer, about a man whose whole life revolved around entertaining people.

Garson's personal life has been fulfilling. In 2009, he adopted a son, Nathan. He was very excited because Nathan's acting debut was in Forging Bonds last week. He was the kid at the park whom Mozzie sent to tail Neal back to his apartment. Garson suggested the role because he felt something was missing from the park scene and the powers that be agreed it was a good idea. He liked that Nathan could see what his dad did for a living and understand acting as a discipline. Nathan fit right in, joking about where he would live during Mozzie's "death" scene. Still, Nathan would rather be a cop or baseball player right now and that's fine with Garson.

Professionally, Garson has been developing TV shows with 2 partners and have sold a couple of reality programs. (Say it isn’t so.) He also wants to direct and is in talks "as we speak" to direct an episode of White Collar. He figures that is a good place to start since he is personally invested in the show. However, he's not looking to pursue 2 acting jobs at the same time though. Shooting White Collar during the day and the Sex and the City movie at night almost killed him. He also teaches an acting class. His advice to actors - "bring yourself to the role" instead of doing it like someone else would. He just read Michael Caine's biography and really admires how each of his characters had a life of its own. Currently, he sheepishly admitted that he is reading the bootlegged copy of O. J. Simpson's If I Did It. He got is for Christmas (yikes) but is not very impressed by the first 50 pages.

When asked why people should watch White Collar, Garson says that it has "fun, fun characters" which are the heart of the story combined with interesting capers that are more like a throwback to Columbo or Mission Impossible. Because many of the episodes are standalone, new viewers can jump in at any time without feeling overwhelmed. They can then easily catch up on the season-long story. He's especially impressed by the writing in White Collar. I completely agree. If you aren't watching White Collar on USA Network, Tuesdays at 10/9 central, give it a try. It is a lot of fun.

Garson ended by saying that many fans would either be surprised by how athletic he is (he's a boxer) or by the fact that he eats like a pig 24 hours a day. He thanked all the fans who keep White Collar in the news by blogging, Twittering, and talking about it constantly. He knows how valuable and important the fans are and wants everyone to know that he and the rest of the cast and crew of White Collar "appreciate it beyond words."

Supernatural - SPN Fan vs. the CW (Part 492) - Supernatural Fan Week

It's now exactly 24 hours after Like a Virgin should have aired. After 7 weeks, I should be exalting over a (spoiler) new big bad, the return of the Winchester brothers, and my weekly dose of Bobby. Instead, I'm exhausted by my rage at the CW. Less than 60 hours ago, Dawn Ostroff and TPTB at the CW decided to yank Supernatural and Smallville for repeats of The Vampire Diaries and Nikita. Why? Because of their unfounded fear that American Idol would decimate their pet projects' ratings. Twitter, Facebook, and the internet in general blew up in protest. But if you're reading this, you already know that.

I've done my fan due diligence. I've written a heartfelt, mostly polite but very pointed response in the CW feedback section. The title - Screw You CW. So maybe it wasn't so polite. I've Twittered #SaltAndBurnCW until my keyboard protested the pounding of the keys and I annoyed anyone with the bad luck to be following me. (Let me apologize right now for that.) I've written the first half of the Salt and Burn CW theme song. My Facebook page is full of venom and I started a discussion called CW Screws SPN Fans Again on the CW Supernatural FB page. Am I still angry? Of course I am, but I'm also tired of letting my anger at the CW get in the way of my love for Supernatural.

So the battle continues. It's Supernatural fans versus the CW, round 492. I should no longer be surprised at how little regard the CW has for Supernatural and it's fans. Since they took over the WB, my love for Supernatural has been inversely proportional to my hatred of the CW. Nothing changes now. Time to throw the crying towel in the dryer, withdraw the claws (temporarily), and put on my big girl shoes. Turn the boiling rage into the simmering heat of future vengeance (there will be a future satisfaction).

After careful consideration and many years of dealing with the CW, here's my new plan.

1. Boycott everything but Supernatural and Smallville on the CW. Yes, that means I need to watch Smallville on Wednesday and Friday. Memo to self to remember that. When the CW releases what new shows have been picked up, I will (politely this time) send a response in the feedback section reminding them that I am boycotting these shows on principle. Will it mean anything to the CW? Absolutely not. But it will make me feel better and remind them that some Supernatural fans have really long memories.

2. Lavish TNT with love. Why not? They lavish Supernatural with the only non-fan love they get. I went to their forums and under the Why Do You Love Drama? thread I started a thank you discussion. Feel free to drop in and add your comments. (Just don't mention the CW in it, please.) Thanks to the CW I'm now reminded of all the good shows on TNT. I loved Memphis Beat this summer and Rizzoli & Isles had great acting. Who cares if I gave up on Leverage because Nate's drinking drove me nuts? It's still got Hardison, who played Jake in All Hell Breaks Loose, and Parker and Eliot (played by Jensen Ackles' friend, Christian Kane). I will definitely try this show again. Maybe I'll love it again. All of these shows are in repeats until summer, but like NBC once said, it's new to me. Plus, they've got a new show called Fallen Skies coming out about the aftermath of an alien attack, with Noah Wyle as a resistance fighter. It's exec produced by Steven Spielberg. I see a lot of TNT in my future.

3. Promote Supernatural like a hell hound is on my tail. I would really love if Supernatural and Smallville had better repeats on Wednesday than VD and Nikita had. Yes, we just saw a repeat of Appointment in Samarra. Yes, it is the CW's job to promote their own shows, but since they didn't even bother to tell people that Supernatural was going to be on Wednesday, fans have to take up the slack. Anyone know if there is a reminder hash tag floating around Twitter yet? Let's crash the internet again by making sure everyone knows about Supernatural and Smallville on Wednesday and Friday. Last week we had major news outlets on our side. This week, we've got the most rabid fan base on our side. Like the Winchesters, we always have a fighting chance. There's s poll right now about favorite CW show. That's a good place to start.

4. Re-energize tired, disappointed, and generally bummed out fans. It's hard to seesaw from elation to rage and back again. We need to stick together. So, I hereby proclaim it Supernatural Fan Week. #SPNFanWeek A week where fans celebrate other fans. Do you have a favorite SPN video? Has someone's fan art wowed you? Did a piece of fan fiction move you to tears? Have you laughed until you cried over a particularly brilliant fan idea? Share it here and with others. (Just remember to keep it family friendly.) We all need something to celebrate right now and 2 million eyes and ears are better than one. Here's one of my new favorites.

5. Submerge myself back into all things Winchester. The DVD's are on permanent replay, the music is blasting, all the favorite fan things are cycling through. This is a Winchester world and no asinine little netlet can stop them. It's not going to stop me either. Will the CW care about any of my plans? Nope - not even a blip on their radar. Will it make any difference? Nada. But it makes me feel good and it reminds me of why I love Supernatural, and in the end that's all that matters. As long as there's an Impala racing and Winchesters saving, the world is a good place. Salt and burn, baby!

Let's get started!

Today's challenge - Come up with a new world of Winchester dictionary. Think back on your favorite episodes. What words have the Winchesters inspired? What is now part of your own lexicon that never was before? What new words have you created based on these characters? I'll start.

1. Swayzed (v) - to create movement in an astral or ghostly state
Ex. I full-on Swayzed that....

2. Fudge (v) - meaning....um...you know
Ex. You fudgin' pre-empt my show again, I'll fudgin' kill you.

3. B****/Jerk (expression) - manly way to say I love you bro.
Ex. what we've been missing lately

4. Meadowsweet (v) - to falsely lure someone in with kindness before betraying them in the most foul way
Ex. Dawn Ostroff meadowsweeted us by saying that she couldn't imagine Supernatural not being renewed and giving us new promo pictures before pre-empting the midseason premiere.

5. Hell Hound (v) - to tear to pieces in the most agonizing and painful way
Ex. I wanted to hell hound someone when I heard Like a Virgin was moved back to Feb. 4.

6. Djinn juice (n) - a state of utopia that is far too good to be true or anything that brings on such a state
Ex. They drank the djinn juice if they think their relationship is going to last beyond the honeymoon period.

7. Sucks out loud (expression) - emphasizing how bad something really is
Ex. Waiting for another week sucks out loud.

Your turn!

My Anti-CW Theme Song (so far)

Salt and Burn CW by Dahne

I'm going to be Changing Channels come Friday night....
If I had the Hammer of the Gods, you'd get it alright.
Criss Angel is a Douchebag, but so are you.
Clap Your Hands if You Believe we always get screwed.
What is and What Should Never Be is the CW theme,
because now we have Sam, Interrupted by VD.
The CW should wish for only 99 Problems,
Since All Hell Breaks Loose and is headed for them.
Metamorphosis begins, Caged Heat turns uncouth,
In your feedback box, You Can't Handle the Truth.
Practically 2 Minutes to Midnight, Dawn cancels our show.
She's the Pilot of this air crash, The Devil, You Know.
There's No Rest for the Wicked, so Abandon All Hope,
Our Bloodlust is growing; No one's throwing you a rope.
So try to Jump the Shark if you dare think you can
The CW's Dead in the Water, no Asylum at hand.

White Collar - 2.10 - Burke's Seven - Recap

reface - This recap took me days to do. I kept getting off a geeky research girl tangents. Good news - I may now be the leading expert on season 2 coffee mugs. Bad news - no one cares and I still don't know what Ivan Bliminse has to do with the invisible man. Anyone know? Welcome back to White Collar! January never looked so good.

Previously - Kate died, the music box hid a code, Neal pulled a gun on Fowler, Fowler knew Burke's mystery man (Julian Larssen), and Mozzie got shot! Aaahhh! Why cliffhang me like that writers? Why?

We open as Mozzie is rushed into surgery. He flat lines but is brought back. Yes, I panicked even though I knew he would be okay. Neal's at Mozzie's side while Peter exposits that Mozzie is "in a medically induced coma. There's nothing you can do for him here; there's something you can do out there." I feel jipped because I want to see Neal's reaction to Mozzie's shooting so getting right back to work doesn't do it for me.

At the FBI, Peter shows Neal a picture of Julian Larssen, expositing how he shot Mozzie and works for the man who killed Kate. They don't know where he is but they have to keep him in town. Neal avoided Peter by having lots of aliases. Larssen has his made abroad, so if they burn all his known aliases, he will need another one. Good thing Neal has contacts; he will talk to the area forgers so Larssen can't get one. Peter counters by asking that the forger give him an alias they can track. Good plan! They separate as Peter questions people about Larssen's aliases while Neal uses sleight-of-hand to sneak black business cards to all forgers in town. They follow the card, which says 42685th.com by the way, to a museum(?) Hey, it's Devlin the shamelessly self-promoting forger who burned Mozzie in By the Book. Instead of the I DO ID t-shirt, he's wearing one that says Burned Identity. How many forging t-shirts does this guy have? Kuddos to the White Collar team for continuity. Neal says if Larssen chooses them to make him a fabulous id under the alias Justin Springer. Devlin and others protest "bad for business" but it's for Mozzie. Either Devlin now shares a bond with Mozzie or he's ticked someone shot their own because everyone's in. Unfortunately Devlin mumbles so badly I can only get "One…….your kind…..honesty." Meanwhile Diana burns Larssen's known aliases, including Blitek which Diana automatically knows how to spell. Hmm.

Back in Mozzie's hospital room, Neal sleeps as Mozzie awakens. He tries to take out the oxygen cannula, but Neal wakes and stops him. It's all husky voices and manly bonding; I've waited over 4 months for this. Mozzie: "They did it. They finally got me." It's so Mozzie that Neal and I smile knowing he will be okay. The bullet missed Mozzie's heart by 2 millimeters, but Mozzie claims he doesn't have one. Neal says, "Look at the bright side; you're not dead." Moz: "I know. It's worse. I'm in the system." But never fear, Neal has his back. He's registered under a fake name, Ivan Bliminse. Aww. Mozzie can't remember the actual incident to identify the shooter, but Neal says it's okay when Mozzie starts freaking out. Neal and Peter will find the one responsible.

At Peter's office, his new coffee cup proclaims him the world's greatest FBI agent. Trust me, it's new. I checked. A lot. Neal calls Peter about Mozzie. "He quoted Nietzsche to a nurse. He's going to be okay." Yeah! Peter shut down his aliases so it's Larssen's move. Sure enough, he's right behind Neal. Way to give me a heart attack, USA. In an alley, Larssen sees Neal's hat on the ground. I hope that Neal went up a fire escape and has Peter on the phone. No such luck. I guess Neal thinks righteous anger is a match for an assassin's gun. Unfortunately, he's wrong. Larssen pushes him into a wall. He can tell Neal who's in charge if Neal helps him flee town. Neal says no but Larssen ups the ante by saying the one who ordered Mozzie's death is the same person who had Kate killed.

At Peter's, Neal explains the deal to Peter and Elizabeth. Oddly, Neal drinks water while the Burke's have wine. Peter: "You make that deal, a killer walks free. Neal, you can find your revenge in the justice…" Neal: "I know." Peter: "You're not listening to me…..You are listening to me." Neal will do it Peter's way, showing how tight their partnership has become. At the FBI the next morning, Neal wants self-defense lessons. Given he doesn't carry a gun and an assassin pinned him in an alley the night before, I think that's reasonable. Peter disagrees. "New York is safer if Neal Caffrey is lacking in at least one skill set." Peter, you're a bit callus about Neal's safety here.

RANT WARNING - Peter notices his coffee cup is missing and I notice the plot contrivance anvil 10 seconds before it lands on my head. Waking up 3 days later, it still makes no sense. First, it's a new cup. I checked. So Elizabeth must have given it to him since Mozzie got shot. Very possible. Then, Neal mentions they all know not to touch his mug, but Peter's never been anal about that. Touchy about coffee - yes. Coffee is a running joke. But in season 2, Peter uses different mugs - usually a white or blue one with the FBI logo and lots of disposable ones. In fact they must have a communal set at FBI headquarters since they're used interchangeably by all. (Hope they have a dishwasher.) Since Neal and Peter have worked separately since Mozzie got shot, how does Neal know of this coffee cup rapport. In the end, I chuck it to writers needing to get from point A to point B and not caring how they get there. Still, it bugs me when things are ret-conned for no reason. TANGENT OVER. Back to the story.

Justin Springer, aka Julian Larssen, bought a plane ticket to Samoa, allowing the FBI to track where he lives. (Side note - why is Elizabeth's picture facing outward instead of where Peter can see it). At Larssen's place, he is fairly cool that the FBI broke down the door to get him. "You could have knocked." Peter notices the sheers Larssen had when they came in prompting them to look in the shrubbery. Aha! Jones finds the smoking gun.

Meanwhile, Neal pushes Moz expositing a good recovery and that soon he won't need the wheelchair. Mozzie stops him by saying the code hid plans to build something. Neal wants to wait but Mozzie is emphatic. "I was shot for that code. Now that Larssen took my notebook, they have the equation too. I'll be damned if they're going to build it before I do." Worked up, Moz touches his heart prompting Neal to calm him. I want a Neal reaction shot when Moz says he was shot for the code. Alas, no dice. After he finds what the code builds, Mozzie is retiring. What? Neal is also baffled. "Death bed epiphanies are not your style. If this is about not being able to remember…" That does have to bug Mozzie. He has a photographic memory. To not remember the most significant event in your recent life has to irk him more than most. Yet, that's not the issue. He's having a crisis of conscience about telling Peter that Neal was going after Fowler. His FBI consulting made him a nark and he can't reconcile that. Neal: "You told Peter? Thank you. If you hadn’t Moz, I might have killed Fowler and Fowler didn't kill Kate." Awww. Best minute and a half of the entire episode. Neal asks about the "coded equation" but Mozzie doesn't know anything…yet.

At the FBI, Peter questions a surprisingly silent Larssen. Why isn't he singing for a pardon? Hughes interrupts with a ballistics report. The barrel was filed down but a single fingerprint was on the slide - Peter's. Uh oh! Prisoner's Dilemma - Part 2 coming up. Department of Justice Agent Rowe is back to suspend Peter for evidence tampering. In Withdrawal, Rowe said Mentor didn't exist and Neal forged Fowler's papers. Before seeing next week's previews, I thought he was the traitor who got Fowler into OPR. He could still be. They also let Larssen out for lack of evidence. Neal and Diana are horrified. This sucks! Peter: "Larssen destroyed me."

Over at Peter's, the Things that Confuse Me list appears again. Neal and Elizabeth talk about Mozzie's care package (gluten-free brownies and bendy straws), while Peter calls Diana. If Peter is suspended and his house is outside Neal's radius, how is Neal there without an official FBI? Shouldn't his anklet alarm go off? Very odd. Anyway, Peter and Elizabeth agree they will get through this mess, making them one of my favorite married couples on TV. She heads to the hospital and Peter explains that every case he has worked on is in question. Neal: "Maybe I'll get my anklet off sooner than I thought." They wonder how Larssen got Peter's print on the gun. Neal suggests, "He could have used a photo-edged metal master of the print and used it to cast a latex positive." Um, that's complicated. In Flip of a Coin we learned people can lift a print off a beer bottle. Perhaps Peter should wear crime scene gloves whenever he leaves the house. They surmise Larssen did not get Peter's fingerprints from his FBI file because the gun print is too in-depth. I wonder if the FBI habitually leaves employee's files where anyone can access them. Door knobs are too messy, but aha, the disappearing beloved coffee mug is a viable suspect.

Again I wonder about FBI security, as Diana and Jones use FBI cameras to confirm that someone broke into Peter's office. Guys in fedoras can go anywhere. Larssen used a maintenance pass (Hope you're still alive maintenance guy) and pulled a Neal past the guys at the booth. The camera captures the mug but they never get a clear shot of his face. However, evidence shows that Larssen was on Peter's computer. Jones confronts Diana about the secrets she and Peter have been keeping and she tells him to talk to Peter. I'm glad because I've missed Jones screen time. At his apartment, Neal plays chess with himself which seems futile, but I'm not a chess player. Peter barges in without knocking. Rude much? Apparently Larssen erased part of his file and since Peter keeps a secret key logger on his computer, he can track it. Neal: "I have never appreciated your distrust in me more." Bwah! Larssen erased the name Frederick Bilal, a Nigerian prince with a passion for horses. "I thought those only exist in spam e-mail." Bilal owns shipping companies and relaxes at the Rogers Yacht Club. Neal thinks "con" to get in since Peter's benched. Peter: "The only options aren't the law or the con Neal." Peter calls in a favor from Sarah Ellis. Oh goody!

Sarah gets Peter and Neal in because her company insures several boats. I wish it was good to see her again, but… She greets Neal, "Nice to see you fully clothed" prompting a quizzical look from Peter. They see Bilal and Neal says he was a prince once too. I'd love to hear that back story. Peter insists he can do the job without his badge but Neal thinks "he's like Superman without his powers." Peter shocks me by talking racing terms and I have no idea what he said. It works though. Sarah: "Well, Clark Kent seems to be doing well for himself. What now Boy Wonder." Nice! She calls him on doing guard duty but Neal claims it's code to look around. Sarah: "Does Peter know that's what it means?" Ha! Sarah's not irking me like usual. Peter offers Bilal insider racing tips if he hooks Peter up with under the table shipping. Bilal's not too smart because he considers it even though Peter's a stranger. Meanwhile, Neal wants a closer look at Bilal's yacht. He and Sarah pose as Mr. and Mrs. Frank Wellington, club owner. Neal needs Sarah's wallet because "marriage is based on trust." Sarah: "Trust that I have my baton and I really do love to hit people with it." Neal gives the wallet to a boat hand and they approach the captain, talking about booking a tour. The boat hand gives Sarah her wallet. "Excuse me, Mrs. Wellington. You dropped this." Neal makes her give the boat hand $50. Bwah! Nothing she can do about it. Unfortunately, the captain met Mr. Wellington so Neal quickly claims he is Frank Wellington, Jr. Sarah insists everyone calls him Junior and there's nothing Neal can do about it. Turnabout is fun play today. Sarah leads the captain off to ask questions while Neal takes pictures of the log with his camera. When they are working together and not obnoxiously screwing each other over, I am fine with Sarah.

At the club, we learn that Peter grew up around horses. Guess that's why he speaks racing. Sarah leaves as Neal exposits that Larssen rents the boat every time he comes to town. Obviously he's secretly shipping things. Peter is lost without FBI support so Neal suggests a con. "Nothing illegal but if we.." Peter: "All right." Neal: "Just hear me out, ok…I saw what you did there." It's parallel to the earlier conversation. Love it. They start by assembling a crew. Neal: "Welcome to the other side." Peter meets with Jones and Diana, while Neal talks with Sarah and Elizabeth works on Mozzie. Jones wonders why they didn't originally include him but Peter says it was to protect him. The exposition fairy explains the music box, Peter's suspension, Mozzie code-breaking, etc. Jones: "A music box? Open it up, it plays a little tune, ballerina goes around on top." It does seem innocuous when put that way. Jones: "I'm on your team Peter. I'll back your play. Anything to get out of that van." Bwah! We need more Jones. Neal explains that they need Sarah's equipment. No dice. Where her equipment goes, Sarah goes. "Now what kind of wife doesn't support her husband. I'm in Junior." Two down, one to go. At the hospital, Mozzie emphatically states that he is retiring. Elizabeth throws him: "Mozzie I am not here to recruit you. I am just here to give you your care package." She questions the bendy straws because "they do wash the glasses here." Mozzie: "Oh yeah. Next you'll tell me that Paul McCartney wasn't replaced by a look-alike in 1966." He asks about the plan but Elizabeth sidesteps it. "Honey, you need your rest and hey you might actually like retirement." She points out an old guy knitting. Yeah, she's that good. They need to recruit Elizabeth as a spy.

At Neal's, Sarah and Neal flirt while learning to use her voice translation equipment. I miss Alex here. Neal can only use the 99 words they have recorded Larssen saying. Neal asks why Sarah is helping. She likes having him owe her and getting inside his head. That sounds ominous to me, but Neal is intrigued by being research. They prank call Peter before everyone gathers at Peter's. Mozzie believes they are all surprised to see him. When they aren't he recognizes what Elizabeth did. "Nicely played, Mrs. Suit." Peter and Neal debate the word con vs. sting and they exposit everyone's role. Diana will spook Bilal, Jones will reroute the pay phone, and Mozzie will block cell reception. Using Sarah's equipment, Neal will convince Bilal to move the cargo. Voila! A surefire way to get Larssen. Except that leaves Peter framed for tampering. Peter: "One con at a time." Love Neal's reaction to this.

The con goes swimmingly until a guy gets on the pay phone to talk to his wife and won't get off. Elizabeth pretends to be his wife, telling him to get off the phone and buy her some flowers for a romantic night together. We now have Burke's Seven. Elizabeth amazes Peter, Neal and me with this. Back on track, Sarah steers Neal through a tricky part in the conversation. He tells Bilal to go to 4268 5th Avenue now, the same place the business cards led the forgers earlier. I get it. I thought the web address gave the directions. (By the way, it leads to the Fellowship of Fools website. incredibly, they spotlight Fairly Legal there which is a new USA Network show. Moz would say conspiracy.) Bilal brings the crate only to be arrested. It contains Nazi-era china which is the most puzzling thing yet. Bilal doesn't know why Larssen is shipping it, but has no trouble flipping on him. Larssen agrees to meet at the "safe house."

Since Peter is suspended, they need the FBI on board. Enter Sarah with a harassment complaint on Larssen's behalf. Agent Rowe goes to stop Peter. "Still think this is a witch hunt?" he asks Jones. Jones doesn't blow his cover with Rowe but still fills Hughes in on the basics. At the safe house, Larssen uses latex prints to put Peter's prints on assault weapons just in time for Rowe, Jones, and Hughes to arrest him. Peter is cleared of all charges. The crew watches from a distance only to see Larssen undo his handcuffs with tweezers. I so think Rowe is a part of this. Peter jumps on a horse to capture a fleeing Larssen. Awesome scene. By the time the others get there, Larssen is handcuffed with Peter riding beside him. Neal: "Nice riding Butch." Peter: "Thanks Sundance." Love the continuity and the line. Neal wants to do a seven-man con before Peter gets reinstated but Peter says no way. Neal: "We made a good team. C'mon admit it; you enjoyed yourself." Peter: "A good con never admits anything. You taught me that." Neal calls Mozzie about the good news but Mozzie one-ups him. He's built the equation.

Back at the safe house, Sarah and Peter ponder what is going on. If you get answers, please fill me because I have no clue. The carton was going to Argentina. Peter can't pursue it there but Sarah can, and I say go for it. She was more fun this episode, but I can only handle her in small doses. Peter says it's dangerous but Sarah thinks, "Could be fun. Tell Junior I'll send him a postcard." Peter's puzzled by the Junior but heads to the office. Diana gives Peter a new mug that looks exactly like the one he used before the plot contrivance anvil dropped. Then Peter questions a willing to talk Larssen. Larssen gives up Vincent Adler; Peter is stunned. I don't know him so my reaction is moderate.

At the apartment, Neal uses his comfort voice when speaking with Mozzie. It's endearing but bound to get on Moz's nerves if he doesn't stop soon. Mozzie created a fractal of bendy straws that's quite pretty. I don't know what it has to do with Nazi china though. Moz: "It's a fractal design. Fractals are used in like everything from predicting nature disasters to metallurgy. There's one in your cell phone." Okay, I kind of get it. Just like Peter before him, Neal is stunned; he recognizes the pattern. "We both know who (the man behind everything) is Moz. It's the man who made me who I am today." Now I'm stunned too.

I like this episode. It answered many of the questions I had before hiatus while amping up the tension for future episodes. I am surprised they used this story line so close to Prisoner's Dilemma and I didn't like the nonsensical plot devices, but they were tempered by some great scenes with Mozzie and Neal as well as a interesting con. Mostly I liked how the secondary and lead characters worked together throughout the whole episode. White Collar's biggest strength to me is the secondary characters and it was fun to having everyone on screen together. Kuddos!

Next week - Andrew McCarthy is Vincent Adler. But most importantly, it's the flashback episode that I've been waiting for months to see. Neal meets Mozzie, Peter has that hideous mustache, and hopefully I finally understand what's so special about Kate. Be on the lookout for Willie Garson's son Nathan also.

White Collar airs on the USA Network on Tuesdays at 10/9 central.

White Collar - Interview with Willie Garson

Hey Collar fans! I just got off a conference call interview with Willie Garson, who plays Mozzie on White Collar. While the official transcript will come later, here are some tidbits gleaned.

1. Willie Garson seems like a genuinely nice person. He was humorous, quippy, and a lot of fun to listen to. He's also grateful to all the fans who have made White Collar a success. He considers himself closer to the character of Mozzie than his other characters, not in a paranoid conspiracy way but in the wry humor that Mozzie brings. It allows him to give the character more depth and character development becomes more collaborative. Apparently, about every 3rd-4th Mozzie line comes from his head. That's a lot of adlibbing on set.

2. Garson most wants you to know that his son Nathan will be in a scene in next week's flash back episode. One scene conveys the level of a con artist Mozzie was back then and he had an idea to include his son. The executives thought it was a great idea and viola! Garson was excited that his son could see what his dad does, but apparently Nathan still prefers to be a police officer or a baseball player. Aww.

3. For me the best info was that we will continue to learn more about Mozzie's past. Obviously, Forging Bonds (next week's episode) will tell us how Neal and Mozzie meet. It takes place 8 years earlier when both Neal and Mozzie are ready to take things to a new level. However, other tidbits will keep coming. The powers that be know that Mozzie is a beloved character so look forward to Peter finding ways to use Mozzie more and possibly another episode where Mozzie needs the FBI ala By the Book. Great news for all those Mozzie fans out there!

4. Garson is in talks to direct an episode of White Collar "as we speak". Nothing is set yet, but look for more news on this front later.

Stay tuned for a more in-depth look at the interview where Garson discusses bad toupees, going shirtless, and one really bad Christmas present (in my opinion at least). Of course, it will touch more on White Collar too.

Don't forget that White Collar airs Tuesdays on USA Network at 10/9 central. Next week is Forging Bonds, aka the flash back episode. If you haven't seen White Collar yet, I highly recommend you watch this week. Like Garson says, "Anyone can jump in at any time." It looks like a great, fun episode.

White Collar - 2.10 - Burke's Seven - Promo

Not sure if this is new, but it was new to me so I thought I would share. Here's to a brand new White Collar episode tonight!

White Collar - 2.09 - Point Blank - Recap

White Collar - Point Blank (2.09) - Recap

Preface - This recap was finished one day before the winter hiatus ends. I love this episode. Of all the shows I watch, it was my favorite (and most frustrating) cliffhanger. I can't wait to see how it is resolved tomorrow.

Previously - Alex gave the music box to Neal, Neal gave the music box to Fowler for his and Kate's safe passage, their plane blew up presumably killing Kate, Alex gave Neal the music box key (last piece), Neal stole a marshal's key to his anklet, Mozzie told Neal that Kate called Fowler from the plane.

On a random street, Peter questions whether they should involve Mozzie in breaking the music box's code. I question whether Peter has met Mozzie because of course he is the man for the job. Neal agrees with me and they head to his apartment. Mozzie is in heaven, talking to the box as if he has been waiting for it for years. Peter is annoyed. He exposits the music box key and Mozzie sees the second code. They record and listen to the music as Mozzie theorizes geographical data hidden in the music. Peter takes the music box back to keep it safe, but Neal snatches the key. He wants to lure Fowler out with the box, but Peter says tomorrow "it's business as usual."

Neal and Mozzie exposit about Alex's involvement with the box, and Neal thinks she might know something they don't. Mozzie says it's too bad she has vanished but Neal might be able to find her. Meanwhile, Peter and Diana talk about how Neal coping and where Fowler might be. Apparently, Fowler is broke and checked an old bank account. Peter suggests putting money in his account, pretending it's from the insurance claim from Fowler's wife's murder. If Fowler withdraws money, they can track him. Diana puts the music box back in her safe.

Neal and Mozzie meet Hale, an old acquaintance, who has a lead on Alex and warns that the NYPD is on her trail. Hale exudes class and fun so I hope we see him again. Mozzie and Neal surmise that Alex is stealing back stuff she already fenced. In order to locate Alex, Neal cons the FBI into taking the case using what he knows about Peter to catch Peter's interest. The open case files include mortgage fraud and copyright infringement which bore everyone. If these are his choices no wonder he goes for art theft. Meanwhile June reminds Neal that she's leaving town and he needs to watch Bugsy, her dog. Nice to see you June if only briefly. Back to the con, Neal created a fake file complete with police report, research and nickname - The Silver Burglar. Mozzie scoffs at this and insists the file looks way too new to be legit so they age it with a left-handed coffee cup stain, food smudges, removed staples, and the same perfume as Susan, the FBI highlighter. Great detail here. Mozzie starts humming the Batman theme song because the first person robbed was Commissioner Gordon. Neal: "No one will know what song hummed when you did this." Mozzie: "Live the file." Forging Hughes' signature and creasing the file, using Mozzie's bald head - natch, finishes the project. I love the scenes with Mozzie and Neal working together.

Peter brings the files home to Elizabeth like Neal said he would. Satchmo, their dog, ate the quiche Elizabeth made and I love how Peter silently thanks him. Over Chinese, they discuss the files together. Elizabeth nixes anti-trust lawsuits and Peter passes on medical scams. As expected, they choose the silver burglary. Again, I like moments that showcase what a great pair Elizabeth and Peter are. The next day, Neal is nonchalant when Peter shows him the case. Peter: "What do you know about stolen Spanish silver?" Neal: "Do you even have to ask?" Peter: "Ooohh, just once I wish I did." The rest of the squad likes the case too and I burst out laughing when Jones hums the Batman theme song just like Mozzie. Peter exposits the burglar's MO and narrows it to 3 potential targets. Neal pushes him to the one he knows Alex will choose. Diana tells Peter that Fowler made an ATM withdrawal from an ATM and leaves to track him down.

Meanwhile Mozzie tries to break the music box code to no avail. Mozzie: "Unless GLARVENDKKG means something to you, it's still just noise." We rarely see Mozzie frustrated but he needs outside help on this one. He chooses a code maker who hides codes in gadgets. Neal dislikes trusting him but Mozzie's only giving him a small part of the recording. Neal suggests Alex can decode it and Mozzie is miffed. "Oh sure, perhaps she decoded it already using a stolen silver tea set." Neal heads to meet Alex on a rooftop one block away, where she does surveillance. In the van, Diana joins Peter with bad news. Fowler moved on 2 days before but Diana tracked his alias to an explosives purchase days before the plane blew up. Diana asks if Peter is going to tell Neal, but he's not sure Neal can deal.

Up on the rooftop, a burglar spies and Neal tells Alex about the FBI. Neal references To Catch a Thief and I have the sudden urge to watch a Carey Grant movie. Maybe His Girl Friday - love the banter. Neal says he wouldn't have set Alex up if he had her number but Alex is still being pursued by shady people of the music box stealing kind. Neal warns her about the NYPD and asks if she cracked the code. Alex: "I'm lurking on a rooftop, spying into people's windows. Do you think I cracked it?" Neal suggests that Alex take the music box from Diana's apartment and give it to a Russian museum, putting attention on the museum and off her. Alex is leery but Neal promises that no one is home. She agrees. Except, in the van, Peter reassigns Diana to the Fowler case. He tells her to work at home to keep it off the FBI radar. Neal tries to get Diana to stay. "I like the van when Diana is in it. You're the only thing that smells good in here." Diana: "Then take your last whiff because I'm leaving." Peter: "Diana has more important things to do than be your potpourri." Bwah! It's the last sign of fun before all turns serious. At Diana's, Alex just gets the music box when Diana comes in. Alex escapes from the window as Diana finds the empty safe.

In the van, Peter discloses to Neal what Diana found out about Fowler. Peter knows how difficult Kate's death has been for Neal and he appreciates Neal's trust. It's a poignant moment. Neal is visibly thrown to see the explosives receipt. Peter promises that they will get Fowler. Unfortunately, Diana calls to say the music box was stolen. Peter: "Don't do this, Neal." Neal unsuccessfully denies stealing the music box and Peter promises he will not get away with it. The next morning, Diana shows a newspaper article claiming that the music box was mysteriously returned to the museum. They are having a one-day, invitation-only showing before sending it back to Russia. Peter accuses Neal of trying to lure Fowler out and benches him. Neal: "You can't pull me off this, Peter." Peter: "I can do whatever I want with you. You're lucky that I don't put you in lockdown." Peter kicks Neal out.

In an antique shop, Mozzie meets with the Japanese code maker. A stuffed squirrel is bizarrely displayed on the counter. Maybe it's just me, but it would discourage me from buying anything. The plot contrivance anvil and Neal show up unexpectedly. Neal catches Mozzie up on Alex, the music box, and his manipulation plans. He just starts talking about the explosives, when the genius code maker returns chatting about a 2-part code. He invites Mozzie to work with him on it. Aww, Moz. I thought you were a better friend than that. He's so excited about the code that he ignores the warning signs that Neal is falling apart. I'm nervous for Neal and very sympathetic. Everyone is so focused on the case that they have forgotten the person. Not good with someone as smart as Neal. And the anvil drops - plot contrivance #1. Neal sees an open box with a pistol on the counter. Not for nothing, but doesn't New York have gun laws that don't allow guns to be where anyone can snatch them. Which, of course, is exactly what Neal does. To sum up, a distraught, alone, and armed Neal is loose with vengeance on his mind. Uh oh!

As Peter and Diana strategize a stakeout, Peter wants Neal monitored continuously. "Neal wants Fowler more than I do and I can't let that happen." I love when Peter looks out for Neal like a big, FBI-badged brother. At the Russian Heritage Museum, Diana says Neal's at home and Peter hopes Mozzie is with him. Unfortunately, Mozzie is nowhere to be seen as Neal dresses for the occasion. He looks a little scruffy, signaling his inner turmoil. He grabs his forged invitation and undoes his anklet. As he heads to the museum, Diana picks up Fowler, who bribes his way in. Peter goes after him but is interrupted by a locked door and Mozzie's phone call. Mozzie went to tell Neal of a break in the code only to find Neal's anklet around Bugsy's neck and loose bullets on the table. "It's a dark day when I turn towards the system instead of recoiling….Remember when you asked me to tell you if Neal was going to do something stupid. Well, I regretfully report that he's out of his anklet. But that's not the stupid part. He's got a gun."

Peter wigs and puts Diana on the lookout. Meanwhile Fowler looks for a way out of the room he locked himself in. Neal enters and while the hostess leers at him, he cons the security guy into leaving his post to find a party crasher. This allows Neal to flip the gun in the air as he walks through security, neatly catching the gun when he's passed. Somehow I don't think this works in real life. All those people and no one sees anything? Diana tells Peter that Neal is in and everyone converges. The music makes everything even more intense. Neal sees Fowler and races upstairs only to be stopped by Peter's voice. He heads the other way but Diana sees him, so he takes out a short sword and cuts the banner hanging from the window. He swings from them to crash into the window where Fowler is. Peter hears glass breaking and Neal fires at Fowler, purposely missing. Peter and Diana go into panic mode to get the door open. Neal is disheveled and crazy-eyed as Fowler exposits that he lost his job and his wife. Neal is torn, putting down the gun only to pick it back up. Peter breaks in to talk Neal out of killing Fowler but Fowler tells him to pull the trigger. He denies killing Kate or knowing who actually did it. Peter reasons with Neal but Neal wants Fowler to know how Kate felt as she died. Peter demands, "Look at me. Look at me, Neal." He does and Peter tells him "This isn't who you are." Neal hands the gun to Peter and Diana cuffs him on Peter's orders. The scene is intense and personal and perfect. It's White Collar at its best. You've got to see this scene. As Neal is led away, Peter confronts Fowler, "Did you kill her?" and demands Fowler tell him everything.

We return to FBI headquarters with Peter, Neal , and Fowler in Peter's office. I question the intelligence of this. Neal is still visibly upset as Fowler explains that someone called him about his wife's murderer. He was videotaped killing that person and blackmailed into the music box business. Whoever is pulling the strings has a lot of power, enough to get Fowler in OPR. Fowler couldn't get to Neal while he was in prison so he went after Kate instead. He claims the explosives were Kate's idea and Neal wigs, but Fowler insists the explosives were supposed to go off over the ocean after Kate and Neal had bailed. I hope her plan included the pilot bailing out too. Neal agrees that Kate might plan it that way. If everyone thought they were dead, no one would look for them. Neal confronts Fowler about Kate calling him from the plane but he denies it. I guess the next big mystery is who she called and how that leads to the hand pulling the strings. Diana and Jones interrupt with a newly reset anklet. Peter tells Neal to put it on and go home. Um, that didn't work so well last time. Shouldn't someone keep an eye on him until he decompresses?

Alone in his apartment, Neal is distracted, pensive, and playing with bullets. Not a good sign. Again, why are they leaving this man alone? He becomes more unkempt by the minute, throwing things off the table and getting ink all over himself. My heart aches for him. Luckily, we head back to Peter's office before angst takes over. Peter asks Fowler about the meeting from the beginning of the season. Fowler didn't know his contact but when Peter shows him the surveillance of Patchwork Man, he recognizes the face. It's an old Special Forces buddy of his, Julian Lawson. Diana breaks in about a murder at the code maker's antique shop. Bye, bye code maker. Peter hears the music from the music box playing and the detective on scene gives the basics. No robbery, music playing when they got there, no picture of the guy. The code maker's book says Eureka at the bottom so someone figured something out. They notice Neal on the surveillance tape and surmise that he is the next target. They race out to protect Neal.

Meanwhile, Neal is showered and looking more like himself. Alex arrives and Neal hesitantly lets her in. He really needs a peephole for his apartment. Peter flips when Neal doesn't answer his phone and the producers want me to believe Alex is going to shoot Neal. Ha, I fell for that when Peter had the ring. I'm not falling for that again. Neal confirms that Alex is in the clear but he's still flying blind on Kate's death. He's confident that Mozzie will crack the code and Alex regrets getting Neal involved in it. Alex goes for something in her purse right as Peter breaks open the door. It's a notebook and pen. I knew she wouldn't betray Neal. Not at this point. Now if it were over a job, that I could see. She gives Neal her number and Peter notices her Spanish silver pendant as she leaves. Neal questions the gunplay and when Peter tells him about the surveillance tape, Neal realizes that Mozzie is in danger. Man, I wish we got better reaction time for this. I would love to see Neal react to Mozzie being in danger because of him.

However, we switch to Mozzie sitting on a park bench drinking coffee. Julian Lawson shoots him and rifles through his pockets as Mozzie bleeds. What! You cannot kill Mozzie! He's my favorite character. Blood seeps from Mozzie's chest as he falls over. The end. Aarrggghhh! I cannot believe the writers ended like that. Months and months of pondering what happened to Mozzie. It was the best and most frustrating cliffhanger of them all. I can't wait to get answers as the hiatus finally ends. I need Mozzie!

Supernatural - Ultimate Death - Poll

Last Week's Winners - Favorite Character

Last week had some overwhelming favorites. Very few races were even close, even with the exclusion of Dean, Sam, Bobby, and Castiel. I guess there are some definite fan favorites in the Supernatural universe. Here are the winners from the last week:

Favorite Angel - Gabriel with 587 votes followed by Lucifer with 126.

Favorite Demon - Crowley won with 482 votes with Azazel (YED) in second with 184 votes.

Favorite Human - In our tightest race of the week, John Winchester had 162 votes and Ash had 94.

Favorite Other - In the most contentious nomination, the Chevy Impala had 268 votes while Death received 103.

Favorite Object - Originally this wasn't going to be a category, but based on the nominations it was included. The winner was Dean's amulet with 291 votes followed by the Colt with 62. The people have spoken Sera. We want the amulet back...before the end of season 6.

Supernatural Polls - Ultimate Death

The winter hiatus will soon end (yeah!!!) and we are getting lots of good spoilers to dish about, so this will be our last poll until the summer hiatus (ugh - talk about hellatus). Therefore, it's natural that we take all the previous winners and let SpoilerTV viewers choose the ultimate winner for each category. Yes, this means you will have to choose only 1 episode to vote for.  I expect this week will be very difficult for many.

To come up with the list of contenders, I automatically chose the top 2 votes in each original poll. Depending on how many original polls there were, I also added in some that were very popular even if they did not win. This way if votes were really close, we would not be disregarding a popular choice. That means that for Ultimate Death, there will be 10 choices, for Favorite Character 12, and all others 15.

Voting will last 2 days each just like before. However, it starts today. Happy voting and remember, comments are like the end of hiatus.
